Already week 5!

With this semester going as fast as it's going, I'm gonna be back in Scotland before I know it! So let's pick up from one of my last entries when I said I'd return to the Fratellis gig. First of all it seems like it was ages ago! At the time I was really looking forward to the concert. All the mates I went with had consumed the album for the whole day getting themselves in the mood and it was billed as a pretty drunken affair. When we got to the venue there were some support acts (well I say support acts, but actually it was the NME tour and they were meant to be reputable bands but I didn't know either of them and they weren't up to much!) and so we all headed to the bar to get tanked up for the main act. Eventually the trademark perm graced the stage and the crowd got going. First they sang Creepin up the Backstairs and us girls entered the sweat pit in a attempt to get nearer the front. In the end we found this to be pretty uncomfortable and retreated a bit - afterall it wasn't as if we couldn't hear them! The Fratellis really are a fab band to see live. One of the best bits for me was in between songs when they chatted to the crowd in their broad Weegie accents...they made some comment to the effect of 'isn't funny that we could say anything up here and nobody would have a clue what we're saying!' - clearly they didn't realised there was at least one native among us all!

Since then I've been up to lots - here's a quick run-down: I've attended two of the dullest research seminars ever, I've been to a talk by Peter Mandelson, I've given my first European Studies presentation, I've had a visit from Lizzie, I've been on one and a half dates, I've been promoted to members bar barmaid at the Cardiff Blues, I've been to Swansea and Mumbles (where Catherine Zeta-Jones is from), I've cooked a roast dinner and washed my car!!! What a list! As for what's to come over the next wee while...I'm hopefully going to Bath sometime this weekend, I'm working at Wales vs Australia on Saturday, and then next weekend my parents are visiting. I'll make sure my next blog is a bit more detailed, this one's just a snippet of everything because I've been so rubbish at updating it recently!
