January Jollities
Having sobered up after Christmas and New Year, January is proving to be quite dull. Revision and studying has finally hit (a mere five months into my masters!) and the days are merging into one another. Me and my flatmate Claire are living for our weekly shop in Tescos. In fact, revision has hit us so hard that we've started going to supermarkets further afield just so we can extend our time away from our desks! Personally my favourite so far is the Sainsburys in Roath, simply because the first person I saw when I arrived was Rhys Williams! In the interim days between food shopping we've kept ourselves sane (relatively speaking) by taking heavy doses of Cold Feet. To the unsympathetic among you it may seem as if I am making a mountain out of a mole hill with all this study malarky. In truth I do only have a two-hour exam worth 20% to sit and a research proposal to write, HOWEVER the amount of reading I am taking on board for both is very time-consuming and quite mind-zapping. I will be glad when February arrives.
To break up the monotony of revision I took a wee trip to Glasgow at the weekend. Indeed it is not my destination of choice but the BBC were paying for BA flights and a four star hotel so I wasn't complaining. All I had to do in return was represent Wales in a pilot quiz show thingy! The majority of the 50 of us representing Wales all got on really well - it's amazing what happens when you gather 50 outspoken 'Welsh' people together! When we weren't stuck hanging around in a BBC canteen, we were drinking together and being very jovial.
Today me and Claire went to the gym - the second time we've been since deciding that taking up membership would be a good idea (New Year's resolution n all that). Contrary to my body's wishes I leapt out of bed at 8:15am ready for a brain-energising workout. The exercise actually made me feel pretty good and my endeavours were rewarded with uninterrupted concentration levels all morning while I read about the origins of Europe - you're all as enthralled as I am, I'm sure! In fact me and Claire have made a repeat appointment with the gym tomorrow at the same hour of darkness - we'll see how long this momentum lasts!
